This report reviews research studies examining risks and diseases related to the working environment of Swedish chimney sweeps. Chimney sweeps are exposed to soot and solvents in their work, and studies show that they have an increased risk of cancer, heart disease, and respiratory diseases. Chimney sweeping also involves working at high-altitude with a risk of falling accidents. Chimney sweeps’ exposure to harmful substances at work need to be decreased. This report is a slightly modified English translation of the report ‘Skorstensfejares arbetsmiljö. En kunskapsöversikt’, MSB1107.
